Nomura’s Global Markets division handles client transactions for financial institutions, corporates, governments and investment funds around the world. We act as market makers, trading in fixed income and equity securities, including currencies, interest rates and credit in cash, derivatives and structured products. We have taken market-leading positions across the globe by leveraging the strength of our talent, client relationships and technology.
What’s your role?
Internships are a great opportunity to experience firsthand the possibilities of a career in banking. It is your chance to get a feel for our culture, create new networks and gain valuable on-the-job training. This is an opportunity to work with Nomura’s Southern European Sales team in London for a period of 3-6 months with the view to go permanent. The applicant will then join the 2019 Graduate Programme. Candidates applying to this vacancy must be a fluent or native speaker of Italian and Spanish.
Our global teams are experienced professionals who have geographic, product and industry specialization. We endeavor to provide interns with the same level of exposure as a first-year analyst, participating as a full member of the team. As an intern, we expect you to form effective working relationships and demonstrate a commitment to Nomura's goals and values. At the end of the internship we extend full time offers to strong performers to return to Nomura the following year.
Your role will include (but not be limited to the following)
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients across South Europe and the UK
- Derive innovative bond and derivative trading strategies for clients
- Maintain a continuous dialogue with internal trading desks and strategy teams to monitor market developments
- Assist in the preparation of marketing material and trade execution/processing
- Support the team with day to day transactions, ensuring deadlines are met accordingly
- Develop knowledge of the client base and market changes
