Global Markets overview:
Nomura’s Global Markets division handles client transactions for financial institutions, corporates, governments and investment funds around the world. We act as market makers, trading in fixed income and equity securities, including currencies, interest rates and credit in cash, derivatives and structured products. Fixed Income Quantitative Research
The Fixed Income Quantitative Research team builds and maintains the mathematical models used by Nomura to price and risk manage Fixed Income derivative trades. The team works closely with the various trading desks in Fixed Income, including Interest Rates, Credit and Foreign Exchange, as well as the technology and support teams. It is involved in many aspects of the business, from building tools to support trading activity to researching and implementing new mathematical models for exotic products. The team owns the analytics underpinning the risk and P&L reports, and is an integral part of the recent focus at Nomura on our electronic offering to clients. The team is close-knit and multicultural, and works seamlessly across geographies.
Programme overview:
Through our nine-week Internship Programme you will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the possibilities of a career in banking. It is your chance to get a feel for our culture, create new networks and gain valuable on-the-job training. Internships are also the perfect preparation for a subsequent full time role. Nomura will extend full time offers to strong performers.
Global Markets Summer Analysts in the Fixed Income Quantitative Research team will have the opportunity to work with Quants and our partners in Trading, Structuring and Sales. The internship is a placement for 9 weeks within the Quant team, working on real projects with direct value for the trading business, supervised by experienced members of the team.
Training:
Summer Analysts will receive extensive training to enhance the skills that they need to perform well during their internship. The programme includes training in Financial Markets, Bloomberg, Excel, Conduct Risk and a variety of division specific activities.
Throughout the Internship Programme you will be supported both by a buddy, mentor and dedicated programme management team.
What’s your role?
Quants: Developing mathematical models for pricing and risk managing derivative trades, in partnership with the trading desks, and implementing them in the firm’s trading systems.

Quantitative research requires an exceptional level of technical quantitative skills. As an intern in the Quant team, you should be in your penultimate/final year at university, studying for an MSc or PhD in Mathematics or other subjects with strong quantitative elements.
